This summer, I am interning at SNY (SportNet New York), the official television home of the Mets, Jets, and all things New York sports. The office is in the World Trade Center in New York City.
I am part of the marketing department and have also worked closely with their programming and affiliate teams. This opportunity has aligned perfectly with my majors in marketing and film & television. In my future, I want to work on the business side of sports, and this opportunity has allowed me to gain tremendous experience in an office atmosphere and learn a lot along the way.
My day-to-day involves various projects, including the management of SNY marketing campaigns across all mediums such as digital, social, radio, and outdoor; monitoring affiliate programming and viewer feedback questions; and assisting in creating weekly contingency programming for live sports.
So far, it has been an amazing experience. My favorite part has been the Citi Field tour and being able to see behind-the-scenes areas of my favorite professional team. Oh, and seeing the Stanley Cup in person on the first day was pretty cool too!
