NOTRE DAME, Ind. – After breaking a school and BIG EAST record with eight assists in a 16-9 win over Connecticut, Notre Dame women’s lacrosse senior Maggie Tamasitis has earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the third time this year, the league office announced on Monday.
Tamasitis dished out eight assists, including five in the first half, in a 16-9 win over Connecticut on Saturday that improved the Irish to 10-2 and 4-2 in the BIG EAST.
The eight helpers broke the school record of six that was held by Tamasitis, Gina Scioscia and Kerry Callahan and the league mark of seven that was held by Syracuse’s Kim Wayne (2002 vs. Connecticut) and Katie Rowan (2008 vs. Georgetown). The Boyertown, Pa., native also tied her own single-season school mark of 46 assists and tied her own school record with five helpers in the first half.
The eight assists put Tamasitis into a tie for sixth all-time in NCAA Division I history, behind only Northwestern’s Hannah Nielsen (10 vs. Duquesne in 2009), Mercyhurst’s Amy Perry (9 vs. Fredonia State in 1999), Navy’s Erin Rawlick (9 vs. Howard in 2010), Boston College’s Karen Emas (9 vs. Iona in 2010) and Boston University’s Catie Tilton (9 vs. St. Mary’s (CA) in 2012).
Notre Dame has now had a Player of the Week or Weekly Honor Roll mention every week this season, with Tamasitis and Margaret Smith each earning three Weekly Honor Roll scrolls.
Tamasitis and the No. 6 Irish return home to Arlotta this Wednesday when they play host to No. 18 Vanderbilt Commodores in a 2 p.m. match.
