SOUTH BEND, Ind. — University of Notre Dame men’s lacrosse standouts Jake Taylor, Chris Kavanagh and Ben Ramsey had their names called on Tuesday night during the 2025 Premier Lacrosse League draft. Taylor is headed to the Philadelphia Waterdogs, Kavanagh to the California Redwoods and Ramsey to the Boston Cannons.
Taylor and Kavanagh were the first two picks of the second round, going back-to-back at ninth and 10th overall, respectively. Ramsey was drafted 28th overall in the fourth round.
With the three selections, the Fighting Irish now have had 56 players selected in the history of pro lacrosse drafts.
Taylor is one of the best finishers in program history, providing a major threat playing off ball and around the crease. The grad student has 125 career goals, ranking fifth in program history.
A 2025 All-ACC Team selection and 2024 All-American, Taylor played a pivotal role in Notre Dame’s 2023 and 2024 national titles. The attackman scored one of the biggest goals in program history, scoring in the final seconds of the fourth quarter in the 2023 NCAA Championship semifinals to send the game into overtime.
Kavanagh is one of the greatest players in Notre Dame lacrosse history. The attackman enters the postseason ranked second in career goals (145), third in career points (232) and seventh in career assists (87) in the Notre Dame record books.
The senior was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Year in 2025 after pacing the Irish with 33 goals and 23 assists. Kavanagh helped lead Notre Dame to back-to-back national titles, earning NCAA Championship Most Outstanding Player honors following the 2024 tourney.
Ramsey is regarded as one of the top short-stick defensive midfielders in the country, as the senior is a great on-ball defender and also a difference maker in transition. The SSDM has 17 career points off 11 goals and six assists while also recording 95 ground balls and 35 caused turnovers.
Ramsey is a three-time All-ACC Team selection and was named an All-American in 2023 and 2024. The senior was a standout during the 2024 NCAA Tournament run to the title, earning NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team accolades.
Taylor, Kavanagh, Ramsey and the Irish open up the NCAA Championships with a first round matchup against No. 4 seed Ohio State at Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium at noon p.m. ET on Sunday, May 11. The game will air on ESPN2.
