Day 1 — June 17, 2024
We are in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia! Today we had a morning and evening practice. Normally morning practices are more shooting and reviewing plays and evening is when we put the skill work in action into game play.
Day 2 — June 18, 2024
Day 3 — June 19, 2024
Today was a little different. After practice, we went for a team bonding activity at a ceramic spot downtown, and as we were coming out, we saw a deer and some baby deer on the road🤭
Day 4 — June 20, 2024
It was a pretty busy day. We started off with a hydration meeting in preparation for Paris. Then we headed off to practice where we scrimmaged and got a lot of reps. As soon as we finished practice we went back to the hotel and headed to a team gathering/dinner. The view on the lake was beautiful!!
Day 5 — June 21, 2024
Alrighty, so Friday was a lighter day since we’ve been going hard for five days. Hydration has been a big point of focus, so they have been weighing us at the start and end of practice as well as calculating our fluid intakes to see if we are hydrating enough throughout practice. Afterwards, we headed back to practice and had treatment as always. Lastly, so glad I’m able to sleep in tonight because we have a day off tomorrow!!☺️☘️
Day 6 — June 22, 2024
Today was a well-deserved off day. I had a chance to go downtown and explore Victoria a little bit. I did an escape room with some of my teammates.. we didn’t escape lol. I took a nap (of course) and went to eat ramen for dinner which was too good.. yummmm.
Day 8 — June 24, 2024
It was a pretty typical day of camp. We had practice in the afternoon, and we got to scrimmage a bit to get ready for the game on Wednesday. We then went to this cute little Italian spot downtown to eat dinner. Oh, and my parents and brother surprised me! Since my birthday is tomorrow and for the three games ahead.
Day 9 — June 25, 2024
Today was actually my birthday, so I got to eat breakfast with my family. Then headed off the practice in the arena where we will play tomorrow. Came back, got treatment, Team Canada decorated the meal room for me and celebrated me at dinner with this cake made out of fruit. It was so sweet of them. I then headed off to a second dinner with my family and high school coach who was in town as well observing our practices and getting ready to coach team Canada U17 at World Championships.
Day 10 — June 26, 2024
GAME DAY!! We had shootaround in the morning. We came back ate lunch and had a great nap before leaving for the game. It was super fun playing with the team and competing all together. We ended up winning against Portugal and had a great crowd from Victoria!
Day 11 — June 27, 2024
Thursday was a pretty chill day following game day. We still had practice but nothing too crazy, mostly reviewing plays and going through defensive principles. Came back to the hotel, had treatment and went out to eat Ramen with my family!
Day 12 — June 28, 2024
We had shoot around in the morning and then late afternoon we had a scrimmage against Portugal later that day. Finished up the day with treatment and a good night sleep!
Day 13 — June 29, 2024
Saturday was the last official day of camp, last scrimmage versus Portugal, and last meal with my parents before heading over back to the hotel to pack up for my flights tomorrow!
Day 14 — June 30, 2024
Three flights later, I made it back to South Bend!!
