CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Senior Kelcy Tefft and freshman Kristy Frilling knocked off the nation’s No. 1 doubles team to advance to the quarterfinals of the ITA National Indoor Doubles Championship.
Tefft and Frilling defeated Fresno State’s Melanie Gloria and Tinesta Rowe, 8-3, in the first round of the ITA National Indoor Doubles Championship.
The Irish duo will take on Arizona State’s 13th-ranked Laila Abdala and Nadia Abdala in the quarterfinals Friday.
Tefft and Frilling earned a berth into the ITA National Indoor after winning the doubles title at the ITA Midwest Regional.
Tefft also competed in the singles draw, dropping her first-round match to Arkansas’ top-ranked Aurelija Miseviciute, 2-6, 4-6.
