The 2024 season will mark Tony Simeone’s debut in the play-by-play role for the Notre Dame Radio Network’s broadcast of Fighting Irish football. Simeone joins Ryan Harris (‘07), who enters his sixth season as the analyst. Johnny Soper (‘19) completes the team as the new studio host. Simeone replaces Paul Burmeister, who, after six seasons with Notre Dame, will take on an expanded play-by-play role in NBC Sports’ college football coverage.
Simeone has served as the play-by-play broadcaster for Notre Dame men’s basketball over the past three seasons and takes over the role of “Voice of The Irish” for the football team while entering his second season hosting Wake Up The Echoes, the Official Show of The Fighting Irish.
Simeone also calls games for NBC Sports and recently completed his first Summer Olympics, broadcasting Men’s and Women’s Field Hockey at the Paris games. He serves as the lead broadcaster for NBC’s coverage of college hockey, the annual Blue-Gold Game, and Notre Dame Pro Day.
Harris, a 2007 Notre Dame graduate and four-year starter on the Irish’s offensive line, joined the crew after serving as a post-game analyst for Fighting Irish Media. Additionally, he contributes to the Denver Broncos’ pre-season games coverage and appears on Westwood One broadcasts. A 10-year NFL veteran, including a Super Bowl win with the Broncos, Harris was named Colorado Sportscaster of the Year in 2020.
A 2019 Notre Dame graduate, Soper has appeared on the ACC Network Extra, handled play-by-play duties for Notre Dame’s student radio station, WVFI, and is currently a broadcaster on the Big East Digital Network.
“To call Notre Dame Football games is the broadcasting opportunity of a lifetime. There is no more iconic team in college football – and maybe in all of sports. I look forward to describing the action to Notre Dame fans across the nation for many Saturdays to come,” said Simeone.
