Two Irish in Top-15 After Day Two of ACC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. — After round two of the ACC Championships, the University of Notre Dame women’s golf team slipped to 11th place after shooting a 304 (+16) on Sunday at the Grandover Resort & Conference Center East Course (par 72/6,122 yards).

Emma Albrecht led the Irish with a round of 73 (+1), moving into a tie for 14th place at three-over par for the tournament. Speaking of which, Maddie Rose Hamilton is also tied for 14th at three-over par after shooting a 74 (+2) on the day. Albrecht’s second round included four birdies, nine parsand five bogeys, while Hamilton had a pair of birdies, 12 pars and four bogeys.

Abby Heck shot a 78 and Mia Ayer shot a 79 to also score for the Irish.

With one round remaining, the Irish sit in 11th place but are just nine strokes out of sixth on the crowded leaderboard that includes 11 teams ranked in the top 55 of the latest Golfstat rankings.

The Irish are playing in the ACC Championship for the fifth time but for the first time on Grandover’s East Course, where the championship was also contested in 1996, 1998 and 1999.
