Notre Dame’s First Varsity Eight was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Rowing Crew of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Notre Dame’s 1V8 crew defeated No. 15 Michigan State in an ACC-Big Ten Double Dual held at Ohio State on the Griggs Reservoir in Columbus, Ohio. Notre Dame posted a time of 6:23.6 in defeating the Spartans (6:26.47). Notre Dame then raced No. 4 Ohio State, losing by nine seconds to the Buckeyes, but posting a time of 6:36.96.
The Notre Dame First Varsity Eight is composed of senior coxswain Riley Kearney (San Mateo, Calif.); senior stroke Erin Dolan (North Kingstown, Rhode Island); senior seven-seat Treasa O’Tighearnaigh (Powell, Ohio); junior six-seat Laura Migliore (Tampa, Florida); junior five-seat Evelyn McManus (Orinda, California); sophomore four-seat Emily Stinbaugh (Wayzata, Minnesota); sophomore three-seat Julia Randall (Montclair, New Jersey); senior two-seat Christine Schindele-Murayama (Singapore, Singapore); and senior bow Lauren Saunee (New Orleans, Louisiana).
The Notre Dame First Varsity Eight was chosen over Duke’s First Varsity Eight, which also defeated Michigan State Saturday in Columbus. The Blue Devils were ranked 19th nationally last weekend.
Both crews will be in action at this year’s ACC Rowing Championship, which will be held Sunday, May 13, at Lake Hartwell in Clemson, South Carolina. Preliminaries begin at 8:05 a.m., followed by the finals in the afternoon at 5:30 p.m.
