PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Grinding back from a sixth-place showing after the preliminary heat of the men’s 1-meter diving event at the 2010 BIG EAST Championships, Wes Villaflor posted a 347.00 in the finals to capture the overall title for Notre Dame Saturday at Trees Pool on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh.
Villaflor went 262.95 in the prelims and was joined on the podium by Nathan Geary, who scored a 326.75 in the finals for second place.
Ryan Koter (272.25) was sixth in his BIG EAST debut.
After the trials, Pittsburgh owned the top two spots as Colin Forner (328.00) and Zane McClain (312.20) were two of only three divers to top the 300-point plateau. Geary joined the Panther duo with a mark of 303.40.
The final day of diving events concludes Sunday (Feb. 14).
