The Notre Dame volleyball team (5-3) won its second consecutive road match in three games (15-5, 15-3, 15-3) over the Florida A&M Rattlerettes (1-2) in the first round of the Lady Seminole Classic in Tallahassee, Fla., on Friday. Junior Marcie Bomhack led the Irish with 11 kills, nine digs and a career-high five aces. Notre Dame also was able to utilize most of its bench as 14 Irish players were able to see action and combined for a team match hitting percentage of .363.
Bomhack’s 11 kills came on just 19 attempts, and the junior outside hitter only committed one error for a stellar .526 hitting percentage. Junior Malinda Goralski added eight kills while seniors Christi Girton and Jo Jameyson each had five kills a piece.
The three-game victory is Notre Dame’s second road victory in as many tries. The Irish defeated Valparaiso in Valparaiso, Ind., on Tuesday, Sept. 12, in three games.
The Irish will take on the host of the tournament, Florida State, Friday night at 7:30, as the Lady Seminole Classic continues. For those Notre Dame volleyball fans in the Sunshine State, the game will be broadcast on the Sunshine cable network which can be seen throughout the state of Florida.
