MILWAUKEE – Notre Dame’s Kristen Dealy and Jeni Houser each earned a second team all-BIG EAST Conference citation, as announced Thursday evening during the league’s championship banquet at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center.
The volleyball program has now seen 58 student-athletes earn all-conference accolades — including 30-first-team honors — since joining the league in 1995.
Houser, a freshman from Louisville, Ky., led the Irish with 143 kills (3.04/set) in league play while adding 36 blocks (0.77/set). Houser also totaled 42 digs in 13 contests played.
The rightside hitter had 10+ kills in nine contests, including 17 on a .462 average in a four-set win over Seton Hall. Houser hit .299 from the pipes and accounted for double-digit points in 13 affairs.
Dealy’s all-conference nod was the first of her career after three times being named to the BIG EAST Championship all-tournament team.
Dealy posted 122 kills (2.39/set) and 160 digs (3.14/set) for Notre Dame during the conference slate.
For her career, the senior outside hitter from Santa Barbara, Calif., has recorded 513 kills (2.71/set) and 626 digs (3.31) in 54 BIG EAST matches. Her .533 attack pct. (16 kills on 30 errorless swings) at West Virginia earlier this season was a career-best clip for in league play.
The fifth-seeded Irish will face fourth-seeded Syracuse in the first match of the BIG EAST Championship at 10:00 a.m. (CT) on Friday at Marquette’s Al McGuire Center. Complete live coverage of the event will be available at UND.com.
