CLEVELAND — Notre Dame senior Maddy Westbeld has been named to the Women’s College Basketball All-Star Game Player Watchlist, Intersport announced on Thursday. Westbeld is among 60 of the nation’s top women’s basketball players who are draft-eligible, and she could be named to the 20-person team should she forgo her remaining year of eligibility and declare for the WNBA Draft.
The 2024 Women’s College All-Star Game will air on ESPN2 on Saturday, April 6 at 3:30 p.m. Cleveland’s Wolstein Center will host. The full watch list can be found here.
Westbeld is having an excellent senior year, as the Ohio native is averaging just below a double-double (14.0/9.3). She is one of just four ACC players posting at least 14 points and 9 rebounds per contest.
As we head into tournament season, Westbeld has stepped up her game even more. Over the last five games, the post is putting up 15.6 points and 10 rebounds per game. She has also recorded 9 steals in that period. Most recently, Westbeld posted 18 points and went 7-9 from the floor in a Sunday win over Boston College.
As a result of her performance this year, Westbeld was named to the Katrina McClain Top 10. The award is given to the nation’s best power forward.
