South Bend, IN – November 5, 2024 – WHOOP and Notre Dame Global Partnerships announced a two-year partnership today, with WHOOP providing wearable technology for select Notre Dame Athletics programs. In alignment with the Notre Dame Sports Performance Department’s culture, the collaboration aims to optimize the health, wellbeing, and performance of Notre Dame Student-Athletes.
“We are always looking to partner with state-of-the-art companies who are changing the landscape of technology,” said Pete Bevacqua, University of Notre Dame Vice President and James E. Rohr Director of Athletics. “WHOOP will pay dividends for our programs, but more importantly our student-athletes as they balance the academic rigor of Notre Dame and the high expectations of a Notre Dame student-athlete.”
Through the seamless integration and onboarding provided by WHOOP, Fighting Irish Student-Athletes will have access to data and insights on critical health metrics, including sleep support optimization, enhanced recovery protocols, high-performance habit-building and more. Through a Team Dashboard, the Sports Performance Department will be able to see high-level overview data for each athlete for their additional insights. This allows team staff to provide tailored interventions and education to athletes based on the real-time sleep, strain, and recovery data the wearable device uncovers. In tandem, this allows Notre Dame Athletics to gain new insights into how it can better support their student-athletes at an organizational level.
“I founded WHOOP as a college athlete myself looking to better understand the impact of training on my body,” said Will Ahmed, WHOOP Founder and CEO. “This partnership will similarly provide Notre Dame athletes with critical tools and support to improve their health and stay mentally and physically strong through their four years at school and beyond.”
“I’m proud to partner with WHOOP and share how it’s become an essential part of my recovery, training, and performance. Being part of Notre Dame Football means peak conditioning is vital, and WHOOP provides the insights that fuel continuous improvement and team success.” said Riley Leonard, Quarterback of Notre Dame Football.
Notre Dame Global Partnerships, a joint venture between Legends and JMI Sports, facilitated the partnership.
