Dec. 13, 2001
Notre Dame, Ind. – Notre Dame women’s lacrosse coach Tracy Coyne has announced the 2002 women’s lacrosse schedule for the upcoming spring season.
The Irish will open the regular season on Sunday, March 3 with the first of nine home games when they play host to the Ohio University Bobcats in a 1:00 p.m. game at Moose Krause Stadium. After games at Stanford and versus George Mason in Florida, the Irish will open a five-game homestand that includes games against nationally ranked opponents Cornell, Delaware and Syracuse. That homestand will also include all three home BIG EAST contests as Notre Dame faces Boston College and Virginia Tech as well as the visit from Syracuse.
“We’re very excited about our 2002 schedule as it is the most competitive schedule we have had since the program started in 1997,” says Coyne.
“We will have nine home games this season. The most we’ve ever had in the past was five so this gives our students and fans a chance to see us play more often. Included in the nine home games are three key BIG EAST games versus Syracuse, Virginia Tech and Boston College.”
The Irish will play nine teams this season that were ranked at one time or another during the 2001 season. That list includes Stanford, George Mason, Cornell, Delaware, Duke, Georgetown, Syracuse, Yale and Vanderbilt.
