Notre Dame, Ind. – The Notre Dame women’s lacrosse team will open its’ fall schedule this weekend in Denver, Colo., when the Irish face the University of Denver Pioneers. The contest will be played on Saturday, Sept., 29th at 1:00 p.m. (MDT) at the University of Denver.
The Irish will see action on five different dates in September and October as they prepare for the 2008 spring schedule. Following the game in Denver, Notre Dame will travel to Downington, Pa., where the Irish will participate in the USTC Tournament, facing Drexel and Penn State on Sunday, Oct. 7.
The lone home contest will feature a visit from the defending national champion Northwestern Wildcats on Wednesday evening, Oct. 17 in a 7:00 p.m. game at Moose Krause Stadium.
The Irish return to the road for their final two contests over the fall break. On Thursday, Oct. 25, the Irish travel to Baltimore, Md., to face Towson in a 7:00 p.m. game. They follow that by participating in the Georgetown Tournament where they will face Loyola (Md.), Johns Hopkins and Duke throughout the day on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Georgetown University.
Notre Dame is coming off an 11-6 season in 2007 and finished the year ranked 12th in the final IWLCA coaches’ poll. Head coach Tracy Coyne, the only coach in the program’s 12-year history will look to replace five graduating seniors.
