NOTRE DAME, Ind. – In a last chance meet to qualify for the NCAA championships, the Notre Dame women’s swimmers failed to improve on their NCAA B Qualifying times in the 200 and 400 medley relays Sunday at the 2000 Michigan Coed Intercollegiate Meet in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The Irish team of sophomore Kelly Hecking (Rutherford, N.J.), sophomore Allison Lloyd (Fort Wayne, Ind.), senior Elizabeth Barger (Littleton, Colo.) and junior Carrie Nixon (Ouray, Colo.) posted a time of 4:18.15 in the 400 medley relay, which was swum in short course meters (25 meters). The same team then recorded a time of 1:56.27 in the 200 medley relay. Lloyd also swam individually in the 100-meter breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:12.20.
The Notre Dame women will have more than two weeks off to prepare for the NCAA championships, March 16-18 in Indianapolis, Ind.
