VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The University of Notre Dame women’s golf team earned their top finish to date in the 2024-25 season, wrapping up the annual Evie Odom Invitational with a fifth place finish and score of 867 (+27). The team shot a 289 in the final round, led by Maddy Bante with a score of 70 (E), to earn the top-five placement.
“The Evie Odom Invitational is one of our favorite events to compete at the past two years,” associate head coach Kari Bellville said. “The Princess Anne CC golf staff, community, and volunteers are extremely welcoming and host an elite event.
“Our players started off strong in round one, which has been a recent team concentration. Round two was more survival for the players, which pushed them truly to compete the last day for each shot and move up the leaderboard.”
Bante finished the three-day tournament with a team best 211 (+1). She opened the first round with a weekend low score 68 (-2) before hitting par in round three for the final. The freshman finished in a tie for fifth individually, her highest finish of the season.
“A congratulations, and acknowledgment from our staff, goes out to Maddy Bante on finishing tied for fifth. Maddy stuck to our team’s 3 keys to success and kept her disciplined game plan for the course every day while competing,” Bellville added.
Fellow freshman Caroline Owens finished in the top-25, taking 21st overall with a score of 217 (+7) over the three-day event while senior Montgomery Ferreira placed just outside the top-25, taking 26th individually with a 218 (+8).
Maya Hunter finished with a score of 221 (+11) for 40th overall while Faustine Errecade took 67th with a final score of 231 (+21).
The Irish will be back on the course October 25-27 at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, North Carolina, to close out the fall season.
