Women's Golf Rounds Out Play At ACC Championships

WILMINGTON, N.C. — The University of Notre Dame women’s golf team closed out the ACC Championships with a tie for 13th-place overall, finishing with an overall score of 880(+16) at Porters Neck Country Club in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Sophomore Bridget Wilkie paced the team finishing just outside the top-10 individually with an 11th-place finish in Friday’s final round. In total, Wilkie finished 212(-4) over the 54 holes played. She opened the championships with a tournament-low score of 68(-4) before closing out the 36-hole day with a second round score of 71(-1). She completed the event at 73(+1) on the final day to take 11th overall.

Fellow sophomore Maddy Bante placed second for the Irish women, and 35th overall, taking a three-round score of 218(+2) after posting her tournament-low of 68(-4) in round three. After opening the tournament with a first round score of 79(+7), Bante closed out day one under par with a 71(-1) round two score before climbing 21 spots in the standings on the final day when she went 68(-4).

Jordan Levitt finished her first ACC Championships in 62nd overall with a final stroke tally of 225(+9). Levitt sat nine-over heading into the final day after recording scores of 76(+4) and 77(+5) in the first and second rounds, respectively. Levitt’s even-par score of 72 in round three capped off her two days of play.

Taryn Cagle took 66th overall with a final score of 229(+13) in her first collegiate postseason. The freshman went 81(+9) in the opening round before posting back-to-back scores of 74(+2) to wrap the tournament with the 66th-place finish.

Alex Lapple rounded out the Irish women competing in North Carolina with her 74th-place finish. The junior opened the tournament with a 77(+5) score in round one before posting a mark of 80(+8) in the second. To close out the 54-holes, Lapple finished the final 18 holes with a score of 79(+7) for the 232(+20) final.
