NOTRE DAME, Ind. – For the first time in four years, Notre Dame women’s lacrosse Daughters for Dads movement extended off campus and the first event in Hingham, Mass. was a resounding success.
On August 19, Irish alumna Jordy Shoemaker in conjunction with Jenny and Jake Golic had a special class at Orange Theory Fitness in Hingham with all the proceeds going to the Harper Cancer Institute and Daughters for Dads. The class filled up almost immediately and those we were unable to attend were still able to donate towards the cause. Through the event itself and the mobile link, over $6,800 were raised for the Harper Cancer Institute.
“This Daughters for Dads event was an awesome success!” said head coach Christine Halfpenny. “Taking D4D beyond the boundaries of Notre Dame proved to be a great success with Jordy Shoemaker’s remarkable leadership.”
“On behalf of Notre Dame women’s lacrosse, thank you to everyone, especially OTF Hingham and the Golic’s, that helped to take Jordy’s idea and turn it into a fuNDraising reality!” stated Halfpenny. “The dollars raised at OTF will no doubt be put to work at Harper to help researchers find an end to this disease. I look forward to continuing our D4D efforts to raise funds both on and off campus through the collaborative efforts of Jordy and the extended ND family!”
The Irish will look to continue extending the Daughters for Dads movement outside the confines of campus and this first off-campus event was a great start. Everybody can continue to donate to Daughters for Dads and HCI using the link here or by texting “D4D” to “91999”.
