BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Notre Dame women’s tennis team won five of its seven singles matches Sunday to close the adidas Hoosier Classic at the Indiana University Tennis Center.
In the first singles draw, junior Britney Sanders (Ontario, Calif.) completed an impressive 7-0 (three singles, four doubles wins) weekend with a 6-0, 7-5 decision over Indiana’s Leslie Hureau. Freshman Quinn Gleason (Mendon, N.Y.) earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Indiana’s Katie Klyczek in other flight one action.
Junior Julie Sabacinski (Plantation Fla.), who won the doubles flight earlier in the weekend with Sanders, ended her event with an unbeaten record after downing Purdue’s Imogen Golder in straight sets 7-6, 6-3. Sophomore Katherine White (Columbus, Ga.) also finished the third singles flight without a loss by defeating Purdue’s Krisztina Kapitany 6-4, 6-1.
Senior Chrissie McGaffigan (Davenport, Iowa) brought home the fifth and final Fighting Irish win of the day with a 6-3, 7-5 verdict over Jithme Jayawickrema of Indiana.
