SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team cruised to a 5-2 Atlantic Coast Conference win over Virginia Tech Friday evening at the Eck Tennis Pavilion. The Irish improved to 9-7 with the win, and 2-4 in league action.
The Fighting Irish took the doubles point as Page Freeman and Maria Olivia Castedo combined for a 6-4 win at No. 1. The pairing of Julia Andreach and Meghan Coleman won at No. 2 by the same tally to secure the first point of the evening.
Freeman and Andreach notched wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Andreach won in straight sets. Freeman dropped her first set before shutting out her opponent in the next two sets to earn the win. Nibedita Ghosh added a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 4, and Castedo needed three sets to earn the win at No. 5.
