NOTRE DAME, Indiana — Alison Silverio capped her first fall campaign as the head women’s tennis coach at Notre Dame as the Irish competed in the final day of the Notre Dame Invitational on Sunday. Her squad scored seven singles victories and swept three doubles matches on the final day.
Doubles Action
Brooke Broda and Bess Waldram teamed-up for a 6-2 win over Tennessee’s Johanna Silva and Kylie Duckworth. The other two Irish wins were of the 6-4 variety, with Zoe Spence and Ally Bojczuk defeating UT’s Gabby Schuck and Tenika McGiffin, while Cameron Corse and Zoe Taylor were victorious over the Minnesota tandem of Cammy Frei and Camila Vargas.
Singles Action
Six of Notre Dame’s seven singles wins on the day came in straight sets and all seven victories came over competitors from Minnesota. Spence defeated Tina Kreinis (6-3, 6-3), while Corse took down Tiffany Huber (7-6, 7-5) and Broda won over Bita Mancera (6-3, 6-1).
Bojczuk took a 7-6, 6-1 decsion from Caitlyn Merzbacher, Waldram defeated Frei, 6-2, 6-3 and Taylor was a 6-2, 6-2 victor over Vargas. The final victory came as Maeve Koscielski took a three-set decision from River Hart (6-2, 5-7, 7-5).
