Yeadon Named ACC Co-Player Of The Week

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Jemma Yeadon as the Co-Volleyball Player of the Week after the sophomore led the team to two key road wins over the weekend. Yeadon was a major factor in wins over Florida State (3-1) and Miami (3-2). Monday’s honor is the second weekly honor from the ACC in her career, as she was named Freshman of the Week on Oct. 10, 2016.

Over the two matches, Yeadon averaged 21.5 kills and 16 digs per match, while hitting .238 over the nine sets of play. The sophomore’s 24 kills in the four-set win over Florida State on Friday tied her career high for the category. Yeadon played a major role in sparking the Irish attack in the comeback win at Miami on Sunday afternoon. The outside hitter put down 12 kills over the last three sets of play to help Notre Dame come from 0-2 down to win the match 3-2.

The sophomore leads the Irish in kills per set (4.19), ranks second in digs per set (3.24) and third in aces per set (0.26). Yeadon has finished with double-digit kills in all 19 matches she has played in this season. With two double-doubles this week the sophomore now has 16 in 2017, ranking sixth in the Notre Dame record books for most double-doubles (kills/digs) in a single season.

Yeadon is on pace to average more kills per set than any Notre Dame player since Christi Girton recorded 4.35 kills per set during the 2000 season.

Yeadon and the Irish return home to Purcell Pavilion this week, as the team welcomes Louisville at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Oct. 25, for a midweek matchup.
