SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Notre Dame freshman infielder Ava Zachary was tabbed to a pair of weekly honors, winning ACC Freshman of the Week and Softball America Freshman of the Week, the organizations announced. The honors are the first career weekly accolades for the Mishawaka, Indiana product.
Zachary led Notre Dame to a 3-1 record last week, including a ranked road series win at No. 19/20 Stanford, and hit .538 in four starts at second base. She had a team-high seven hits and scored six runs throughout the week, pacing the Notre Dame offense.
In the series finale at Stanford, Zachary scored a career-high three runs to go along with a pair of hits, including a double. Earlier in the weekend, she hit a two-run homer in the first inning on Friday night for her third long ball of the season.
