SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The No. 16 Notre Dame men’s tennis team is off to its best start in ACC play after defeating No. 35 Clemson, 4-0, on Sunday. The Fighting Irish improved to 4-0 in conference play while jumping up to 14-2 overall this spring. More impressively, the Blue & Gold achieved their fifth consecutive shutout their 11th sweep out of 14 victories.
NOTES
- It came down to Perry Gregg and Luis Llorens Saracho on court two to win the doubles point against Clemson. The Irish tandem won it 6-4 over Farzam/Mesarovic. They are now 3-1 this spring as a doubles pair.
- In singles, the sweep was achieved at the hands of No. 15 Sebastian Dominko, Giuseppe Cerasuolo and Luis Llorens Saracho – all straight-set victories.
- Dominko has only dropped one match this spring, improving to 9-1 after a 6-3, 7-5 win over Noa Vukadin on court one. He is now a dominant 54-17 in dual matches over his four-year career.
- Cerasuolo defeated Matisse Farzam, 6-2, 6-4, on court three for the clincher.
- Llorens Saracho bested Noah Cherubino, 6-3, 6-4, on court six, winning his third straight to improve to 8-2.
NEXT
The Irish will look to make it six straight wins when they take their winning streak on the road in ACC play. First up, a stop at Wake Forest on March 13 at 5 p.m. ET. Then, they’ll make the trek to NC State on March 15 at Noon.
