COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Notre Dame men’s tennis team split the weekend in a pair of border wars. On Friday, the No. 24 Fighting Irish (9-2) shut out Northwestern 4-0, before putting up a good fight against the No. 1 team in the nation on Sunday, falling 5-0 to No. 1 Ohio State.
Against Northwestern, the three Irish who brought home the victory in singles were No. 14 Sebastian Dominko, Giuseppe Cerasuolo and Luis Llorens Saracho. Later on Sunday, Dominko was in top ranked duel against No. 8 Aidan Kim but fell, 6-4, 6-4. It marked his first dual singles loss, now 5-1 this spring.
No. 72 Perry Gregg was a week removed from his upset over No. 12 Kenta Miyoshi of Illinois. On Sunday, he was looking to do it again, but his match was unfortunately cut short. Gregg went unfinished against No. 19 Jack Anthrop, 6-4, 4-4.
The same goes for Cerasuolo, who was looking to go 2-0 this past weekend. His match against No. 122 Byrce Nakashima went unfinished on court four, 3-6, 6-2, 1-1.
The Irish will look to bounce back at home with a pair of ACC matchups: Florida State on Feb. 27 at 5 p.m., followed by Miami on March 1 at Noon.
