Ahern, Denes Earn CSC Honors

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Two veterans on the women’s lacrosse team were named CSC Academic All-District at the conclusion of the 2023 season. Senior attacker Madison Ahern and junior draw specialist Kelly Denes were the two Irish recognized, as announced by the College Sports Communicators recently.

A finance major through her undergraduate career, Ahern graduated in May with a 3.68 GPA while finishing among the top-three in scoring in her senior season. The Cohasset, Mass. native and IWLCA All-American amassed 84 points in 21 games played last season. Her 63 goals ranked second on the team along with her 21 assists.

For the second consecutive season, Denes surpassed the 100 draw control mark in 2023. The finance and economics major led one of the nation’s top draw control units and made an impact in the midfield in her junior season. Posting 135 draw control wins this season, Denes now ranks second all-time in the Irish records book, and is the only individual to have posted triple digits in multiple seasons.

The CSC Academic All-District At-Large team recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom.
