TULSA, Okla. – Notre Dame men’s tennis standout Greg Andrews split his two matches on day one of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s All-American Championships held at the Michael D. Chase Center in Tulsa, Okla., on Thursday.
Andrews, ranked No. 24 in the country, rolled through UCLA’s Clay Thompson (No. 29) in round one, 6-0, 6-4, before falling in a close match during round two to USC’s Raymond Sarmiento (No. 9), 6-3, 6-4. The loss ended his stay at the championships.
Andrews’ Irish teammates get their weekend underway on Friday when the annual Tom Fallon Invitational gets underway as Alabama, Michigan, Michigan State and Northern Illinois enter Eck Tennis Pavilion and Courtney Tennis Center. Friday’s action gets going at 3:30 p.m. (ET).
