JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Notre Dame men’s golf team shot a 289 (+1) over the final round on Tuesday to finish in eighth place at the 11-team Timuquana Collegiate. The Irish posted an 857 team total, good for 7-under par.
The Fighting Irish were led by senior Davis Chatfield, who fired off his third consecutive round under-par to card a 211, five-under par – good for 12th place.
“We just completed a 21-day trip to Florida to practice and compete in two tournaments with zero positive tests. Everyone is healthy and I’m proud of the guys for following our strict protocol,” Notre Dame head coach John Handrigan stated. “With that said, it was an extremely strong field this week which is why players come to Notre Dame, to compete against the best. It was an excellent test to see how we stack up and what we need to do to get better…and we will get better.
“As you can see from the stats we did a lot of things well and were very close to having a great event, but there a few things we have to clean up before we compete again. This team is mentally tough, very motivated and ready to get back to work. However, our first priority is to get back to school, start classes again and keep our team healthy.”
FINAL ROUND
Chatfield went 69-71-71 at the Timuquana Country Club, missing what would have been his fifth career top-10 finish by one stroke. Chatfield suffered a bogey on hole No. 2 but played a clean game for the remainder, even notching birdies on eight and 14.
Palmer Jackson finished in 26th place after earning a 74 (+2) on Tuesday. The sophomore totaled a 215, one-under par.
Andrew O’Leary posted the lowest final round for the Irish, scoring a 70, two-under par. O’Leary caught fire on the back-nine, recording a stretch of four birdies over five holes. As a result, the junior jumped 21 spots in the standings to 45th place with a 220 (+4).
Tucker Clark, who led the Irish in their first tournament at Seminole, entered the final round in 16th place. However, the freshman struggled on the front-nine, shooting five-over, before ultimately carding a 77 (+5). Clark slipped to 37th place with a 218 (+2).
Taichi Kho contributed his score toward the team total today with a 74 (+2), in what was an up-and-down round with four birdies and a double on hole two. Kho finished in 45th place with a 220 (+4) as well.
Freshmen Angelo Marcon scored a 76 (+4) to end in 69th (227), while Stewart Slayden tallied a 74 (+2) to finish in 71st (229).

The Irish will return to South Bend for a month before returning to action on March 8 in a Michigan State Invite at Sea Island, Georgia.
