A four-year letterwinner at WKU, she earned her bachelor’s degree in corporate and organizational communications and later completed a master’s degree at the University of Kansas School of Education.

A native of Bloomington, Illinois, Capps and her husband, Eric, have three children: Charlie, Harrison, and Winston.
