ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Junior Joanna Deeter won her fourth race (in as many outings) of the 1998 cross country season as she captured first at the Michigan Interregional. Deeter’s first-place finish helped the Notre Dame women’s cross country team finish eighth with a score of 193 in the 15-team field.
Deeter crossed the finish line with a time of 17:37, five seconds ahead of the second place finisher, Janelle Kent of Wake Forest.
Michigan won the meet with a score of 71, followed by Georgetown (87), Wake Forest (101), Washington (102), William & Mary (135), Florida (157) and Bowling (186).
Patty Rice was the second Notre Dame runner to cross the finish line as she finished 37th in the time of 18:50. Alison Klemmer finished 47th in 19:00, while Erin Olson took 49th with a time of 19:02. Nicole LaSelle was the fourth Irish runner across the finish line as she placed 61st in 19:13.
Other finishers included Bridge O’Brien in 65th (19:17), Leanne Brady in 83rd (19:32), Erin Luby in 104th (19:57), Hilary Burn in 106th (19:59) and Anna Yates in 113th (20:05).
The Irish women’s cross country team will be in action next on Friday, October 30 at the BIG EAST Championships.
