SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Notre Dame cross country program hosts the Joe Piane Invitational on Friday, October 4. The women’s side is ranked third in the latest USTFCCCA Top 25 poll while the men’s team enters the races ranked ninth.
The invitational features six races with 45 women’s teams and 38 men’s teams from across the country. A 22-team field in the women’s blue 5k, the third-ranked Irish are joined by second-ranked Northern Arizona, fifth-ranked BYU, and No. 25 Michigan State along with the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked squads in NCAA Division II from Adams State and Grand Valley in the first race of the day. The ninth-ranked Irish men, meanwhile, will square off against fourth-ranked Northern Arizona, No. 29 Cal Baptist, and No. 30 Michigan State as well as No. 5 Grand Valley and No. 6 Adams State from NCAA Division II in the 19-team men’s blue 8k. A pair of open races take place before the women’s gold 5k and the men’s gold 8k to conclude the slate of competition.
Admission is free. Please do not bring dogs to the race. Drone are not allowed on campus.
