AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Notre Dame track and field team began competition at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Thursday. Three Irish sprinters ran the 400m hurdles, while senior Anthony Shivers competed in the hammer throw.

Junior Drake Stimson finished 46th overall in the men’s 400m hurdles with a time of 54.59.

Junior Jordan Shead placed 30th (1:00.85), and freshman Madysen Hunter came in 57th (1:03.87) on the women’s side.

Shivers threw 62.81m in the hammer throw, marking his second-best career effort. He threw 65.06m at the 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Championships.

Friday’s Texas Relays Preview

Day two of the Texas Relays continues on Friday, when the women’s 4×100 team of freshmen Naya Sharp, Summer Thorpe and Michaela Butler as well as sophomore anchor Kyla Lewis, will look to top their first-place time recorded at the Yellow Jacket Invitational.

Senior Tommy Grant and sophomore Zachary Zajdel will race in the men’s 100m dash, while freshman Michaela Butler and sophomore Kyla Lewis will run in the 100m dash on the women’s side.

Freshmen Naya Sharp and Summer Thorpe are scheduled to race in the 100m hurdles.

Riding a third-place finish in the hammer throw (60.98m) at the Yellow Jacket Invitational two weeks prior, senior Anthony Shivers will compete in the discus and the hammer throw at Texas. Senior school record-holder Indi Jackson and freshman Abigail Kapitan will throw the shot put.

Junior Hunter Holton and sophomore Matthew Birzer will compete in the high jump.

Friday’s Bobcat Invitational Preview

Texas State’s Bobcat Invitational kicks off on Friday, beginning with freshmen Logan Kusky and Shae Watkins competing in the hammer throw at 3 p.m. ET. Junior Payton Miller and sophomore Edward Cheatham will each run in the 400m, and freshman Grace Cronin will race in the 400m hurdles.

Freshman Grace Cronin will race in the 400m hurdles at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Friday’s Stanford Invitational Preview

The Stanford Invitational begins at 1 p.m. ET on Friday, when the majority of Notre Dame’s distance runners will compete.

Sophomore Anna Rohrer will make her debut in the 10,000m race and her first appearance of the outdoor season after winning the bronze medal in the 5,000m at this year’s NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Rohrer will race alongside graduate student Kathleen Darling and senior Lexi Pelletier in the women’s 10,000m race.

Irish distance runner, sophomore Annie Heffernan, will make her return to the track for the first time since the 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships. Heffernan and junior Ashlyn Rambo will race in the 5,000m.

Graduate student Sydni Meunier, coming off of a personal record set at the Raleigh Relays, is scheduled to compete in the 3,000m steeplechase.

After finishing eighth overall in the mile at the 2017 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships (4:06.32), freshman Ryan Schweizer will travel to Stanford to compete in the 1,500m. Schweizer will join junior Billy Dolan and senior Christopher Marco in the race.
