NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Four players will represent the Notre Dame men’s tennis program this weekend at the Drobac/Beeman Invitational. This three-day event will begin on Friday, October 1st and be hosted by Michigan State.
The Irish players headed to East Lansing will be Aditya Vashistha, Peter Conklin, Matt Che and Jean-Marc Malkowski. This will be the second event of the fall for each player with Conklin, Che and Malkowski having recently competed at the Bobby Bayliss Invitational last weekend. Vashistha played two weeks ago at the Milwaukee Classic where he made the quarterfinals of the singles draw before falling to the eventual champion.
The format of the tournament will be a mini-dual where players will partner with a teammate and compete in a doubles match followed by two singles matches. The team that wins two of the three matches will advance in the draw. Malkowski and Conklin will pair up and take on the top-seeded team of Hunter Heck and Lucas Horve from Illinois. Aditya Vashistha and Matt Che are seeded second and will battle Tin Krstulovic and Ian Brady of Marquette. After those respective doubles sets conclude, teams will split into two singles matches. Play will begin at 10am on Friday with the second rounds of the tournament beginning no earlier than 2:30pm EST.
