Friday Order of Play | Green Draw | Blue Draw
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Notre Dame men’s tennis team kicks off their only home contest of the fall slate tomorrow as they host the Fighting Irish Mini Duals this weekend. The 3-day tournament will begin play at 9am Friday morning at the Eck Tennis Pavilion with matches continuing through Sunday afternoon. The competition will be stiff as 10 other teams will be sending players including 7 teams representing the Big Ten, 1 from the ACC and two top mid-major teams in DePaul and Western Michigan.
The event will see players play in pairs as they will simulate a mini dual match where a doubles set will be played before two singles matches will follow. The team that wins 2 of the 3 matches will advance as a team. All tandems will play 4 singles and 4 doubles matches each throughout the tournament.
Eight Notre Dame players will pair up to compete as 4 teams in the event. Seniors Yu Zhang and Jamie Corsillo are the 4th seeded team overall in the event and the highest of the Irish duos. The duo who reached the doubles quarterfinals of the ITA regionals together in their last outing will open up the tournament against Kolyachev and Antonescu of Indiana. Sophomores Chase Thompson and Kyran Magimay, who picked up two doubles wins at the ITA Regionals, will take on Miller and Coriaty of Northwestern.
Jayanth Devaiah and Brian Bilsey will partner up and begin their tournament against Zhang and Bowers of Illinois who are the #2 seeds in the tournament. The two freshmen, Peter Nad and Luis Llorens, will compete together against Mayew and Pena of Louisville in the opening round.
Admission to watch is FREE for those who make it to the Eck Tennis Pavilion to cheer on the Irish. Live streaming of the matches is also available
