CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – With the clock winding down, Prentiss Hubb found T.J. Gibbs in the paint, who flipped up a hot that went in with 0.1 seconds left to give the Irish the 62-61 win over Boston College.
The win moved Notre Dame’s overall record to 18-10 and conference record to 9-8.
The Fighting Irish had three players score in double figures, led by John Mooney, who had a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Nate Laszewski added 10 points off the bench and Prentiss Hubb helped out with 10 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind 12-6, Notre Dame went on an 8-0 run with 15:01 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Mooney, to take a 14-12 lead. The Fighting Irish then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 41-34. The Irish would have been down 10 if not for Rex Pflueger’s incredible steal and half-court heave to at the buzzer to cut it to seven.
Boston College kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 45-36 advantage before Notre Dame went on a 7-0 run, finished off by Mooney’s layup, to shrink the deficit to 45-43 with 16:39 to go in the contest. The Fighting Irish kept the rally going and took the lead for good on Gibbs’ layup with 0.1 seconds left for a 62-61 comeback victory.

Mooney was once again dominant underneath, scoring a game-high 22 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for his 23rd double-double of the season. Mooney finished 9-of-14 from the field and added two assists

NOTRE DAME STAT OF THE GAME
The Irish didn’t allow the Eagles to score on the break all game. Notre Dame outscored the hosts 9-0 in fast break points in the game.
NOTES
- With the win the Irish improve to 24-11 against Boston College, including a mark of 9-6 on the road.
- Notre Dame has won seven of its last nine games.
- Mooney’s double-double is his 23rd of the season and 44th of his career.
- Mooney is alone in second place in double-doubles in a season, trailing just Luke Harangody (25).
- The 44-career double-doubles ties Mooney for fifth in the program record books with Bob Arnzen.
