CLINTON, S.C. – The Notre Dame men’s golf team played the final two rounds of the ACC Championship at Musgrove Mill Golf Club in Clinton, South Carolina, on Saturday and finished the 54-hole event in 10th place.
The Irish carded a 900 (+36) over the event which was won by No. 21 Duke with a tally of 850, 12 strokes ahead of second place No. 12 Clemson’s 862. The 12-team field included seven of the country’s top 33 squads.
Matthew Rushton led the Irish on Saturday, carding a 73 in the second round, Notre Dame’s best score of the day, followed by a 75, the team’s third-best round on Saturday, trailing just the 74 shot by Kevin Conners in the third round.

The Irish saw their scores bunched between 30th and 47th place. Only Duke and Virginia saw each of their five golfers finish ahead each of Notre Dame’s five out of the 12 competing teams.

About the Course
Musgrove Mill was a late replacement for the ACC’s standard home of the Old North State Club of New London, North Carolina which had hosted the event each of the past 15 years. The Arnold Palmer-designed course known for dramatic changes in elevation played as a 6,951-yard par-72 for the ACC Championship.

A native of Framingham, Massachusetts, Torbin graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management.
