SAN MARCOS, Texas — The University of Notre Dame track and field team wrapped up action at three different meets on Saturday.

Several Irish sprinters competed in the 200m dash at the Bobcat Invitational. Freshman Naya Sharp (24.50) led the women’s squad with a personal record and a 14th-place finish, followed by freshman Michaela Butler (24.72, 19th), sophomore Kyla Lewis (24.76, 20th) and freshman Summer Thorpe (24.90, 24th).

Sophomore Zachary Zajdel (22.09) finished at the top of the Irish men’s squad, crossing the line in 24th.

Senior Taylor Craft placed fourth in the triple jump (12.20m), her best mark of the outdoor season.

In the 100m hurdles, Craft (14.08) finished eighth and freshmen Grace Cronin (14.17) and Madysen Hunter (15.02) came in 11th and 23rd, respectively.

On the final day of the Stanford Invitational, junior Jessica Harris (2:05.62) came in third in the women’s 800m race. Harris was followed by senior Jamie Marvil (2:14.51, 44th) and junior Stephanie Knight (2:15.29, 45th).

Seniors Patrick O’Connell (1:51.39, 11th) and Chris Marco (1:51.59, 12th) finished back-to-back in the men’s 800m. Graduate student Eric Gebeke (1:51.96, 14th), junior Kirk Hansen (1:52.04) and freshmen Ryan Schweizer (1:52.30, 16th) and Clay Goldman (1:53.47, 19th) also ran in the 800m.

At the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, sophomore Matthew Birzer (2.15m) finished in fourth place in the high jump. Senior Indi Jackson threw 15.31m, good for seventh place, in the shot put.

Record-Setting Friday

Sophomore Anna Rohrer ran the seventh-fastest 10,000m race in NCAA history at the Stanford Invitational on Friday. The Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field Champion ran her first career 10,000m race in 31:58, setting a new Irish school record and recording the fastest time of any female in the world this year.

Rohrer shattered nine-time All-American and Olympian Molly Huddle’s school record time of 32:37.87, trimming 39 seconds off of the mark.

Coming Up Next

Notre Dame returns to action on April 7-8 at the Sun Angel Track Classic in Tempe, Arizona. The Irish will race at Arizona State’s Sun Angel Track.
