LEXINGTON, Ky. — The College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday that Irish junior Jessica Harris has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country team.

The All-District nod is the first of Harris’ accomplished three-year career. Harris previously was named to the All-USTFCCCA Academic Track & Field team and the All-ACC Academic Indoor Track & Field team following her freshman year in 2015.

Following an eighth-place finish in the distance medley relay at the NCAA Indoor Championships (11:05.76), Harris earned First Team All-America honors. She also placed 13th in the mile at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Harris won two ACC Indoor Championships with a time of 11:02.32 in the DMR and a personal-best 4:33.80 in the mile. The Cockeysville, Maryland, native broke her own school record in the 800m at the Virginia Challenge with a time of 2:03.23 and placed third with a personal record of 4:16.56 in the 1,500m at the same meet.

At the Penn Relays, Harris and the women’s DMR squad set an Irish program record (10:58.22), topping the previous indoor and outdoor bests.

Academic All-District selections must have at least a 3.30 GPA. Selections from all eight districts will automatically be included on the Academic All-America ballot. The Academic All-America Track & Field/Cross Country team will be announced on June 23.

Harris and the Irish are scheduled to compete at the NCAA East Regional in Lexington for a spot at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The NCAA East Regional will be streamed live by the NCAA beginning at 9 p.m. ET on Thursday. The live stream will start at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while Saturday’s action will air live at 6 p.m.
