SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. ââ’¬” With 36 holes of play in the book at the Georgia State Maui Jim Invitational at the par-71 Mirabel Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, the Notre Dame men’s golf team stands in 13th place out of 16 competing schools.
As a team, Notre Dame shot a 291 (+7) on Saturday which combined with the team’s Friday score of 288 (+4) leaves the Irish at 579 (+11) heading into Sunday’s third and final round. LSU leads the field with a 541 (-27), followed by Kent State (543) and Baylor (545).
Player of the Day
Although competing as an individual and not as a part of the Notre Dame team score, Davis Lamb shot a three-under-par 68 on Saturday. Lamb birdied both 17 and 18 to pull into a tie for 27th place overall in the field.

The Irish will be back on the Mirabel Golf Club course for the final round of play in the Maui Jim Intercollegiate on Sunday. After playing the first two rounds in threesomes, Sunday’s play will see foursomes and the Irish paired with players from Chattanooga, UAB and Hawaii beginning at 10:22 a.m. ET. Lamb will tee off with other individuals at 10 a.m.

A native of Framingham, Massachusetts, Torbin graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management. He has previously worked full-time on the athletic communications staffs at Vanderbilt, Florida, Connecticut and UCF.
