NOTRE DAME, Ind. – In a contest that came down to the final relay, the Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team narrowly dropped a closely-contested race as visiting Purdue earned a 155-145 non-conference win over the Irish at the Rolfs Aquatic Center.

Notre Dame (1-3) needed to win the 200 free relay to at least manage a tie on the day, and anchor Amywren Miller sprinted to close the gap during the final stretch before Purdue touched in 1:33.04.

Katie Casey (100 fly, 200 fly) and Samantha Maxwell (100 breast, 200 breast) each notched a pair of wins to lead the Irish on the day.

Notre Dame returns to the pool for a home meet at 5:00 p.m. (ET) on Nov. 12 against Utah.
