KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Members of the Notre Dame men’s tennis team competed in their first official event of the 2025-26 season via the WMU Vredevelt Invitational.
Freshman Nolan Balthazor made a splash in his Fighting Irish debut by going a perfect 3-0 in singles competition and 2-1 in doubles.
Balthazor defeated Baldi of Butler, 7-6(5), 7-5; then DePaul’s Hadziabdic, 7-6(4), 7-5; then CSU’s Chappell, 6-7(1), 6-1, 10-7.
Notre Dame’s Evan Lee also posted an unblemished record at 2-0. The junior grinded out a 7-6, 7-5 victory over Butler’s Arts then followed that with a swift 6-2, 6-1 win over CSU’s Jamison.
Senior Noah Becker rounded out the Irish singles victory with a round three win over CSU’s Boyer, 2-6, 6-1, 10-5.
On the doubles front, the pairing of Balthazor and Nick Patrick found some instant success with a 2-1 weekend mark. In Round One, they downed Butler’s Arts/Konakanchi, 7-6 (10-6) then later edged out a 7-6 (5) win over WMU’s Adesoro/Davison.
Lastly, the combo of Lee and Noah Becker earned a 6-2 round three victory over CSU’s Chappell/Boyer.
