CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team wrapped up the first day of fall competition Friday with 10 Irish student-athletes seeing action on the opening day of Chowdah Fest at the Beren Tennis Center at Harvard University.
Notre Dame, Harvard, Illinois and Texas A&M are competing at the three-day invitational, with each team facing a different opponent each day. The Irish matched up primarily with Texas A&M Friday, posting a 4-3 singles record and 2-2 doubles record against the Aggies. Overall, the Irish were 6-4 in singles and 3-2 in doubles (playing their remaining matches against Harvard.

The Irish will be back in action at 9 a.m. ET Saturday for the second day of action in Cambridge.

Joanne Norell, athletics communications assistant director at the University of Notre Dame, has been part of the Fighting Irish athletics communications team since 2014 and coordinates communications efforts for the Notre Dame women’s soccer, men’s tennis, women’s tennis and fencing programs. Norell is a 2011 graduate of Purdue University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communication, and earned her master’s degree in sports industry management from Georgetown University in 2013.
