Notre Dame Providence Box Score

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Chris Quinn scored 31 points and Colin Falls added 24 as Notre Dame dominated from outside, making a season-high 13 3-pointers, to beat Providence 92-77 Saturday and end a three-game losing streak.

Quinn was 5-of-7 from 3-point range, Falls was 5-of-9 and Kyle McAlarney, who added 12 points, was 3-of-3 to lead Notre Dame (10-5, 1-3 Big East) to its first league victory. The Friars (7-7, 0-3) remain winless in the conference.

The Irish shot a season-high 57 percent from the floor and turned the ball over only nine times. Providence, which scored 42 of its points in the paint, shot 48 percent from the floor and had a season-low six turnovers.

Torin Francis added 11 points for the Irish despite shooting just 1-of-6 from the field. He was 9-of-12 from the free-throw line, with Notre Dame making 21-of-26 free throws. Providence, which was 6-of-18 on 3-pointers, was 13-of-21 from the free-throw line.

Sharaud Curry led Providence with 19 points, Weyinmi Efejuku had 18 points and Jonathan Kale had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Irish took the lead on a 3 by Quinn three minutes into the game and Falls followed with a pair of 3-pointers and the Irish were in control throughout the game.

Notre Dame led 52-40 at the half, the most points ever in the first half by the Irish in a Big East game and a point shy of tying the all-time record set against Arizona three years ago. The Irish were 9-of-14 from 3-point range in the half while Providence was 3-of-7 from 3-point range.
