Notre Dame at NC State Box Score

RALEIGH, N.C. — Notre Dame (13-10, 3-7 ACC) suffered a 76-58 loss on the road at NC State (16-7, 6-4 ACC) on Saturday afternoon inside PNC Arena.
In his first game back after sitting out the prior two contests due to an ankle injury, senior Matt Farrell led the Irish in scoring with 16 points against the Wolfpack. Fellow guard T.J. Gibbs also finished in double figures with 14 points on the afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Notre Dame struggled to find a footing on the offensive end in the first frame and trailed 37-21 at the halftime break. The Irish fell behind the Wolfpack 9-0 in the opening minutes and never led in the half. Farrell scored seven points in the first 20 minutes to pace Notre Dame.
The Irish were never able to cut into the lead in the second stanza, as the host’s lead ballooned to as much as 30 points. Notre Dame was able to find some late offense and cut the final margin to 18 points with the score 76-58 at the final buzzer.
PLAYER OF THE GAME
Senior Austin Torres played his best game of the year, scoring a season-high nine points on 4-of-5 shooting. The forward also tied his career high in rebounding after grabbing six boards and blocked a season-best two shots.
NOTES OF THE GAME
- Farrell’s 16-point performance was his 16th double-digit scoring game of the season.
- With 14 points, Gibbs has recorded 10-plus points in 18 outings this season, including 11 straight.
- Rex Pflueger dished out a career-high seven assists..
