SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -Rob Kurz scored a career-high 25 points as Notre Dame overcame a 13-point first-half deficit for a 93-87 victory Monday night over Lehigh.
Lehigh’s Jose Oliveros also had a career-high 32 points, but the Mountain Hawks (2-6) dropped their third straight game. Notre Dame, playing its first game in eight days, won its third in a row to improve to 4-1.
The lead changed hands seven times to open the second half before the Irish went ahead for good with 14:51 to play.
Kurz scored nine straight as the Irish pushed their lead into double digits with seven minutes remaining. He also grabbed six of his team-high eight rebounds in the half.
Oliveros scored 18 first-half points as Lehigh came out hot from the 3-point line. The Mountain Hawks hit eight of their first nine 3-point shots and built a 13-point lead with 8:29 to play in the first half.
The Irish responded by outscoring Lehigh 23-12 the rest of the half, a stretch that included 10 straight points and Notre Dame’s first lead since the opening minute. But Oliveros answered with a three with one second left in the first half to give Lehigh a 46-44 lead.
Colin Falls scored 21 for the Irish, and Zach Hillesland came off the bench to contribute 11 points and seven rebounds.
