BLOOMINGTON, IN. – The Irish have wrapped up their second meet of the weekend after participating in the Indiana Invitational. The Irish brought home one event title and multiple top fifteen finishes.
Alaina Brady took third in the women’s 100 meter hurdles with a time of 13.94. In the women’s 200 meter dash, Eve Balseiro took eleventh place with a time of 24.34.
In the men’s 200 meter dash, John Oleksak took tenth with a time of 22.44. Luke Phillips also ran for a time of 22.88.
Reeese Sanders represented the Irish well when she took first place in the women’s 400 meter hurdles. She crossed the finish line at 1:00.56. Teammate Molly Bennet was right behind as she claimed second place in the event coming in at 1:01.75. Juliana Keenan also represented the Irish with a time of 1:06.84.
In the women’s high jump, Madison Schmidt took third place with a mark of 1.78 meters. Sarah Flight took fourth place after hitting a mark of 1.72 meters. Arianna Martinez was not far behind as she took a best mark of 1.68 meters. In the women’s pole vault, Olivia Fabry finished with a final mark of 3.54 meters. The men’s pole vault had Nolan Blachowski finish with a mark of 4.59 meters.
Caroline Lewis led the Irish with a second place finish in the women’s long jump. She finished with a 5.79 meter mark. Alaina Brady finished in fifth place after hitting a 5.67 meter mark. Kendall Burgess also represented the Irish and hit a 5.59 mark.
In the women’s shot put, Alesis Juntunen took seventh place and was the top Irish finisher with a throw of 14.00 meters. Ava Butterbaugh took fourteenth with a toss of 12.36 meters. In the women’s discus throw, Butterbaugh took eleventh with a throw of 42.15 meters. The javelin throw saw Sarah David take fourth place with a throw of 39.57 meters. In the men’s javelin, John Keenan threw for 67.17 meters to take first place. His throw earned him a personal best and places him in the top thirty of the NCAA East Region performance list.
The men’s shot put featured Zach Petko taking fourth place with a throw of 16.27 meters and recorded a personal best. Henry Boudreau finished in eleventh place with a toss of 14.56 meters. Boudreau also competed in the men’s discus throw with a mark of 49.53 meters recording a new personal record. Petko finished in tenth with a mark of 47.41 meters and a second personal best on the day in the event.
Some of the Fighting Irish throwers also traveled to the Illinois Gary Wieneke Memorial Invitational to compete in the men’s and women’s hammer throw. Emma Albano threw for a mark of 56.17 meters. Blake Kusky earned third place with a toss of 61.40 meters and Michael Shoaf took fourth place with a throw of 60.38 meters. Albano, Kusky and Shoaf all recorded new personal bests at the meet. Kusky also moved up on the NCAA East Regional qualifying list in to the to sixty. Matthew Teague also competed and took sixth place in the event with a throw of 55.90 meters.
The Irish are back in action next weekend when they take on multiple meets. They will be represented at the Drake Relays, Penn Relays, and the Texas Invitational.
