Notre Dame, Ind. – The Notre Dame hockey team will participate in USA Hockey’s Hockey Weekend Across America (Feb. 13-15) festivities on Thursday, February 12 when they visit Schmucker Middle School in Mishawaka at 10:00 a.m.
The Notre Dame hockey players will have the opportunity to meet with over 300 sixth graders that morning to talk to the students about the importance of school and working hard to reach their goals. The players will talk about the game of hockey and the importance the game has had in getting to the University.
The assembly will give the students a chance to ask questions of the players, learn the terminology of the game and have some fun dressing up in hockey gear. There will be a chance to win prizes throughout the visit. The students at Schmucker Middle School are encouraged to wear Notre Dame or hockey related attire.
Hockey Weekend Across America is sponsored by USA Hockey and the National Hockey League and is a three-day celebration of the sport of ice hockey in the United States. Each of the three days has a theme with “Wear Your Jersey to School/Work Day on Feb. 13, “Bring a Friend To the Rink Day” on Feb. 14 and Celebrate Local Hockey Heroes” on Feb. 15.
