GREENSBORO, N.C. — It’s Groundhog Day for Notre Dame women’s basketball, as the Irish are set to face No. 1 Virginia Tech on Saturday in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament. Notre Dame will now play four consecutive games against either Louisville or Virginia Tech. It has won the first three.
The Irish downed Louisville on Friday afternoon, 77-68, behind 26 points from Sonia Citron and 21 points from Hannah Hidalgo. Hidalgo also had 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals.
Virginia Tech is playing without three-time ACC Player of the Year Elizabeth Kitley, who suffered a knee injury last weekend against Virginia. Georgia Amoore, who was named to the All-ACC First Team, had 27 points for the Hokies on Friday against Miami. Virginia Tech won the contest 55-47.
Saturday’s game tips off at noon on the ACC Network. Pam Ward, Debbie Antonelli and Angel Gray will be on the call. Notre Dame is 16-2 all-time against Virginia Tech and 1-0 in the postseason.
