Ben Hansbrough became the fourth Irish player to be named the BIG EAST Player of the Year, joining Pat Garrity, Troy Murphy and Luke Harangody.

The University of Notre Dame basketball team arrived in New York on Tuesday afternoon in time to make its way to Madison Square Garden to accept three of the BIG EAST Conference’s four major annual awards. Senior Ben Hansbrough was named Player of the Year, head coach Mike Brey landed his third coach of the year award in five years and senior Tim Abromaitis nabbed his second consecutive scholar athlete of the year award.
